LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Governor Gretchen Whitmer will deliver her final State of the State address tonight before a joint session of the Michigan Legislature.
Whitmer’s speech is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. in the state House of Representatives.
She will tout her victories since being elected governor in 2018, including funding long-term road repairs and enacting tax cuts for seniors.
Whitmer is also in a rare position as her approval rating remains at 52%, higher than John Engler’s 47% approval rating in January 2002, Jennifer Granholm’s 35% approval rating in February 2010, and Rick Snyder’s 26% approval rating in February 2018.
Senate Minority Leader Aric Nesbitt of Lawton will deliver the Republican response to her address. This will be his third time doing that.
