BERRIEN COUNTY (WKZO AM/FM) — A late night ride on a snowmobile has ended in tragedy for a man and a woman from Owosso.
The woman is dead and the man in serious condition after they crashed in a wooded area in northern Berrien County.
State Police believe alcohol may have been a factor, and suspect the fact that the two people on board the Snowmobile were not wearing helmets also contributed to the severity of the injuries.
First responders were dispatched to the 4700 block of Carmody Road in Hagar Township at 1:37 Saturday morning and led to the body of the 43-year-old woman who had suffered a fatal head injury.
The 41-year-old male was nearby, suffering from serious back and pelvis injuries in great pain.
He was loaded into an ambulance and rushed straight to Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo for emergency surgery.
He was last listed in serious but stable condition.
Their names are being withheld until family can be notified. ‘
The investigation is ongoing and charges may result.
