BATTLE CREEK (WKZO AM/FM) — A Battle Creek Police Officer has now been formally charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
17-year department veteran Chad Francisco has been on administrative leave since the arrest.
Because it’s a misdemeanor, he could remain a police officer, even if convicted, but there could be a range of internal departmental sanctions.
Francisco allegedly hit a utility pole at the intersection of North 20th Street and Richfield Avenue in Springfield a week and a half ago in his own pick-up.
He was not injured but he was arrested after Calhoun County Deputies say it was determined he had been drinking.
