KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — A Kalamazoo man with a history of violent crime has now been charged with the death of an 11-month old baby.
Bryant Rolland Jr. was the babysitter’s husband who apparently had access to little Jaceyon Downey was being cared for by his wife late last August.
The baby was rushed to the hospital after it began having seizures, and the little boy eventually died.
It was immediately considered suspicious and tests ordered.
This week, Rolland was charged with felony murder for the infant’s death.
Rolland, who has done time for assault, weapons and burglary charges, and was on probation at the time of the crime, denied he was guilty at his arraignment.
The judge in turn denied bond because of his previous record and because he could get life without parole if convicted.
