KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — Kalamazoo County residents should beware of a recent phone scam targeting the elderly.
An 80 year old woman in the Comstock Township/Galesburg area says she has received multiple calls in the past week claiming she won prize money from Publisher’s Clearance House.
The scammer then asks the victim to first mail $350 in cash to a Jacksonville Florida location to pay the taxes on the prize money.
Some residents have fell for the scam and the lady says she now receives multiple calls demanding the rest of the payment.
Residents should always be cautious and never mail cash to callers that say they need money before they can send money.
