LANSING, MI — We have scattered snow showers in the forecast across mid-Michigan today, with only 1-2 inches of additional accumulation expected, but then arctic air will begin to move into the area this afternoon and evening. In addition, winds will increase with forecasted gusts between 25 and 30 miles per hour.
The Sotrm Tracker 6 forecast from media partner 6 News WLNS in Lansing says temperatures and wind chills are expected to drop to dangerous levels beginning Friday morning.
Cold Weather Advisories will go into effect at 1:00 a.m. Friday across mid-Michigan, and continue through 10 a.m. Saturday. The National Weather Service is also noting the possibility for some locations to be upgraded to Extreme Cold Warnings during this time. Extreme Cold Warnings are typically issued when wind chills are forecasted to drop below -25 degrees.
