LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Michigan House Republicans have received a legal win in their fight to stop 645-million-dollars in work project funds from being spent.
Court of Claims Judge Michael Gadola ruled in their favor Friday afternoon and granted a preliminary injunction blocking the state from spending the money.
House Speaker Matt Hall of Richland says he has felt they would “win this easily, because any fair court would rule in the House Republican’s favor.”
Attorney General Dana Nessel says a single legislative committee cannot stop spending from a prior fiscal year’s budget that had been approved by lawmakers and signed by the governor.
