KALAMAZOO TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The head of the Township of Kalamazoo Police Department is retiring and township officials have picked his replacement.
Bryan Ergang will retire from the department Friday after eight years as chief of police and 31 years of service altogether.
Current department Lt. Scott Jackson has been appointed as his successor.
Ergang first joined TKPD in 1995. According to the township, throughout his time with the department, he helped reestablish a community policing unit, started a K-9 unit, developed an IT department and increased staffing, including hiring three times the national average of female officers.
