BLOOMINGDALE (WKZO AM/FM) — A routine attempt to give a driver a traffic citation resulted in a couple of arrests when the driver refused to stop and led Van Buren County Sheriff’s Deputies on a short chase at about 10:00 Saturday night.
Deputies say that 58-year-old Ronald Mcnally didn’t get far before he lost control and crashed into several trees at 46th and C.R. 388, causing extensive damage to the vehicle.
Mcnally was arrested for fleeing and eluding, driving without insurance and he had several outstanding warrants for his arrest pending.
When deputies checked on the well-being of the passenger, a 61-year-old man, he became violent and they allege he tried to punch the deputy, narrowly missing.
He was taken into custody for attempted assault, once he was subdued. His name is being withheld pending formal charges.
Both received check-ups from Emergency Medical Technicians before they were booked into the County Jail.
