KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — A big project is coming to downtown Kalamazoo as construction season inches closer.
Beginning in April and lasting through October, Consumers Energy will be working on a 4.1 million dollar project to replace 25,000 feet of natural gas lines, with some around 100 years old.
Generally, work will occur in an area bordered by Michigan Avenue in the west, Water Street in the north, Pitcher Street in the east, and Cedar Street in the south.
Consumer Energy’s Executive Director of Gas Distribution Julie Hegedus says impacted residents and businesses will be notified via postcard about 2 weeks before the construction.
Residents should also be cautious as construction sites begin to pop up around the community and more crews are out on the roadways.
