MUSKEGON COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A 9-year-old girl and a 51-year-old woman were killed yesterday morning in a crash between their car and a semi in Muskegon County.
Sheriff’s deputies responded to the crash a little after 10 a.m. Wednesday on Maple Island Road north of Sullivan Road and found the car pinned between the semi and the guardrail.
The woman lost control and went into oncoming traffic and was hit by the semi, which was hauling a propane tank.
The semi driver was not hurt, but the two were pronounced dead at the scene.
Alcohol is not suspected of being a factor but the crash is still under investigation.
The girl was a third grader in Hesperia Community Schools and the district released a statement saying their “sincerest thoughts and prayers are with their family at this unimaginably difficult time.”
