CALHOUN COUNTY (WKZO AM/FM) — Child abuse charges could be brought against a Springfield man today for bruises found on the head and neck of his two month old baby.
Calhoun County investigators say the injuries first appeared while the 23-year-old was caring for the infant while the child’s mother was working.
When she noticed them, she took the infant to Bronson Battle Creek. Doctors there transferred the infant to Bronson Methodist in Kalamazoo, where doctors determined the injuries were the result of likely child abuse.
No names will be released until he is formally charged. He is currently being held on an unrelated criminal sexual conduct count.
