SHERWOOD TOWNSHIP (WKZO AM/FM) –Branch County authorities are not releasing the name of a 32-year-old man who had to be taken to a Kalamazoo hospital on Saturday afternoon after he accidentally shot himself with a handgun in the lower leg.
Branch County Undersheriff Keith Eichler says deputies were dispatched to a home on Vogel Drive at about 4:15 p.m. and found a witness was already applying first aid to stop the bleeding.
The victim was able to give his account of the shooting to deputies.
When EMT’s from LifeCare arrived, the man was loaded up into the ambulance and transported to Kalamazoo for emergency surgery.
This incident remains under investigation.
