GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Michigan Department of Transportation is looking at a temporary fix to get the ramp from westbound Interstate 196 to southbound US-131 open around the start of January.
It has been closed since Tuesday morning when a semi crashed into the ramp and caused “very significant damage.”
MDOT said Wednesday morning the ramp would be closed until April 30, 2026 for repairs, but later revised that statement.
Spokesman John Richard says they are taking an “all hands on deck” approach to assess the damage and get it open as soon as possible.
