LANSING, MI — University of Michigan Health-Sparrow has been named Corporate Partner of the Year by Habitat for Humanity Capital Region, recognizing the health system’s commitment to building affordable housing across the Lansing community, according to a press release.
The honor follows the successful grand opening in August 2025 of nine renovated homes in Lansing, a project made possible by UM Health-Sparrow’s donation of the properties in 2024. The houses, located near the intersection of Jerome and Ferguson streets adjacent to the hospital, were donated to the Ingham County Land Bank and Habitat for Humanity Capital Region.
The initiative aimed to turn those vacant houses into family homes to address local housing needs and improve neighborhood safety. The homes were completely renovated, and all interiors, including walls, floors, ceilings, windows and doors, were replaced.
Ann Marie Creed, president of UM Health-Sparrow Lansing, said: “On behalf of our entire health system, we are deeply honored to receive this recognition. This partnership is a core part of our commitment to not only treating patients but also investing in the health and stability of the neighborhoods we serve. We believe that safe, affordable housing is a critical determinant of health, and we are proud to see these homes become a foundation for families to thrive.”
