KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — A hit and run driver who struck a Kalamazoo Public Safety cruiser at about 3:30 this morning and then took off is being sought after heavily damaging the police car.
The squad car was parked along South Westnedge near Hutchinson St., but the officer was not in it at the time and was not injured.
The suspect behind the wheel of a white 2001 Ford Explorer took off at a high rate of speed, and a chase was not initiated.
The Explorer was later found wrapped around a light pole at Oakland and Kilgore.
The suspect was no longer in the vehicle and at last word, has not been found.
