KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — Kalamazoo County’s Stryke Force Robotics Team 2767 has successfully defended their World Championship title at the FIRST Robotics competition held this past weekend in Detroit.
Jerry Kulp Board President of Stryke Force says once the robot task is revealed, the teams have 6 weeks to design, test, and build, before the competition.
The students then went through 2 matches, the autonomous phase and the remote-controlled phase, to see whose robots could pick up milk crates and move them to scales the fastest.
This is the 2nd time the Stryke Force high school team has won the world championship, but win or lose, Kulp says the main goal is to create kids who want to impact the future through robotics.
The event brought 700 FIRST Robotics teams to Detroit from more than 40 countries, marking the first time the FIRST championships has been held in Michigan.
