KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — A repeat drunk driver who was responsible for a horrendous collision with a Metro Transit Bus a year ago this month, has reportedly cut a deal with prosecutors to avoid trial.
59-year-old Michael Spencer’s Pontiac came flying out of no where, across a grassy median at over 100 mph, and had actually gone airbourne just before plowing into the bus.
The collision was captured on the dash cam of a patrol car that was traveling nearby.
It cost bus driver LaShon Diallo her leg and ended her career behind the wheel. Charges against Spencer, who has previous arrests for driving while intoxicated, were also delayed until he recovered from the injuries he suffered in the crash.
He will plead guilty to two of the four felony counts he faced, Operating while intoxicated causing serious injury, and a third offense of operating with any presence of drugs.
