HOWARD TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Cass County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that occurred Saturday in Howard Township.
Around 7:30 p.m., Cass County Central Dispatch received a 911 call from a civilian who said they were being shot at in their vehicle by the occupant of another vehicle. Information was also received that indicated two vehicles were north bound on Barron Lake Road.
Arriving deputies stopped a Chevy pickup truck near Barron Lake Road and Pokagon Highway that had a flat tire. It was then determined that this was one of the involved vehicles, and all damage was firearm related.
Deputies then located a dark colored 4-door vehicle along the side of the road on Pokagon Highway near Hampshire Street. This vehicle was occupied by four individuals, and damage to the vehicle was also firearm related. A female occupant in the 4-door car was injured by a bullet during the altercation. She was transported non-emergency to Elkhart Hospital, where she was treated and released.
