COLDWATER (WKZO AM/FM) — A woman, who may have been using her vehicle as a battering ram to gain illegal entry into businesses was arrested Saturday morning after driving her car through one of the entrances at the Walmart in Coldwater.
The hunt for the woman actually began earlier Saturday, when Police responded to an alarm at Rick’s Party Store at about 7:30 am Saturday discovered the entrance to the business had been damaged and someone had rushed in and stolen a number of items.
They got a tip the suspect in the smash and grab might be at the Speedway station near I-69, but she had already left by the time they arrived.
County Deputies and State Troopers joined the search. A Deputy spotted the suspect’s vehicle at the Walmart, and then watched as the vehicle crashed through the store’s East Entrance.
The vehicle came to a stop near the Pharmacy, the noise startling customers. One employee received minor injuries, but refused treatment.
Officers converged on the store and sent the 37-year-old woman to ProMedica of Coldwater for treatment of injuries she suffered in the crash, before she was expected to be booked at the County Jail, pending formal charges.
