KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) –They gave the students at Loy Norrix a choice for lunch, the votes are in and they picked the chicken.
Chartwells, the contractor who provides food service for Kalamazoo Schools held a tasting event featuring three different menu items…a do-it-yourself Pizza station, an assortment of Latin-American dishes and a selection of different ways of serving chicken.
Food Services Director Christine Haller says the idea is to give students more choice, because it isn’t nutritious unless they eat it.
It’s a new program they are trying out at Loy Norrix and two other high schools across the Midwest.
If it works they will introduce it in more districts.
They will begin serving the new chicken assortment on May 29th.
