KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — Investigators are looking into a mysterious fire that forced an evacuation at the Kalamazoo Gospel Mission.
Fire crews were called to the building on North Burdick Street around noon yesterday after occupants began complaining about smoke.
They found more smoke in the cellar but could not find any flames.
A smoldering fire was finally found inside a wall cavity on the first floor.
Officials knocked a hole in the wall and put out the flames, but they still don’t know what triggered the fire in the first place.
