ALAMO TOWNSHIP (WKZO AM/FM) — Texting at high speeds is being blamed for a collision along US 131 that sent both a semi and a Chevy Malibu into the ditch near D Avenue in northern Kalamazoo county Friday afternoon.
State Police were dispatched at about 1:45 and found the sedan had its side bashed in and the semi had rolled onto its side in the tall grass next to the highway.
The Tractor-trailer driver was cited for texting while driving, causing him to side swipe the car, which was attempting to reenter traffic after stopping along the shoulder.
The driver of the semi, and a passenger in the car both sought treatment for injuries at area hospitals.
