YANKEE SPRINGS TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Two motorcyclists are dead after a crash in Barry County.
First responders were called to Yankee Springs Road near White Pine Drive in Yankee Springs Township around 8 p.m. Sunday to discover a large tree limb.
Barry County Sheriff deputies say the tree fell on top of 55-year-old Jeffrey Altena from Hudsonville and the other motorcyclists, 47-year-old Christian Nederveld from Wyoming, drove into it.
Both riders were thrown from their motorcycles.
Altena was pronounced dead at the scene and a Nederveld was rushed to the hospital where he later died from his injures.
The incident still remains under investigation.
