KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — Forecasters are predicting one more day of hot weather throughout West Michigan before storms and heavy rain hit tomorrow and continue further into the week.
The National Weather Service says Kalamazoo, Grand Rapids, and Muskegon all broke heat records on Memorial Day.
Grand Rapids and Muskegon hit 94 degrees.
Kalamazoo topped at a record-breaking 96 degrees which beats the 94 degree day back in 1978.
And with the before “official summer” heat, authorities are reminding residents to be smart when it comes to hot cars.
Kalamazoo County Sheriff Richard Fuller says if a resident sees a child, pet, or anyone alone in the car, call 911 immediately.
Cars can sometimes reach 20 degrees hotter than the temperature outside, causing fatal mistakes.
