KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — The former director of the Kalamazoo Strong organization was in court Tuesday for preliminary exam on charges she siphoned money out of the group.
The organization was formed to raise money for the victims of Kalamazoo’s mass murder, and then expanded the effort to include the victims of the bike tragedy a few months later.
34-year-old Rachel Kaiser was investigated when board members discovered money was missing. She allegedly issued herself a credit card and spent money from the fund on personal expenses.
She waived the hearing and will go to trial on embezzlement charges, unless a plea bargain is reached first.
