WEST MICHIGAN (WKZO AM/FM) — Its summer and that means the weekends are just as full as the weekdays when it comes to activities, only the events are a lot more fun.
Battle Creek will celebrate the product that put them on the map…with their annual Cereal Festival, and while we don’t want to sugar-coat this, it is an impressive event.
Linda Freibler with the Battle Creek Visitors Bureau says they are moving the parade this year from Friday night to noon on Saturday when more people will be able to see it. They will be serving breakfast most of the morning.
There will be bands, displays, exhibits, an area for young children and plenty of other activities.
***Kalamazoo will also be hosting another major event this weekend, quite a bit different than the one in Battle Creek. Kalamazoo’s Gay Pride event will be held today and tomorrow.
Jay Maddock, the outgoing director of Out Front Kalamazoo is inviting the whole community to attend.
There will be entertainment, food, exhibits, and vendors. It begins at 6:00 Friday night and 2 p.m. Saturday.
***Packet Pick-up will be today for Saturday’s Mud Run in Kalamazoo. It may be the only event this weekend that will directly benefit from predictions of early morning rain.’
The obstacle course is a charity event that helps dig wells overseas and also supports local charities like Loaves and Fishes.
It begins at 9am saturday. Be prepared to get absolutely filthy.
