KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — A stolen handgun is off the streets after a drug bust and police chase near the Edison Neighborhood.
A Public Safety officer was conducting a directed patrol and drug investigation in the 900 block of Hays Park just after 9 p.m. Wednesday when an occupant inside the vehicle fled on foot.
The officer was able to catch the suspect but called for reinforcement after the subject began to resist the arrest.
After the 26-year-old Kalamazoo suspect was finally taken into custody, authorities recovered a stolen handgun on the subject.
The suspect was booked into the Kalamazoo County Jail on charges of resisting and obstructing, delivery of cocaine, and multiple gun felonies.
