SCHOOLCRAFT (WKZO AM/FM) –State Police are searching for anyone who was near U.S.131 and U Avenue just north of Schoolcraft at about 11:30 p.m. Friday when a car and a motorcycle collided at the dangerous intersection.
Merle Kauffman and Elizabeth Potts from Indiana were headed back home from an event in Allegan County when the collision occurred.
State Police say the driver of a dark colored four-door sedan, which they believed was operated by the at-fault driver, fled the scene, leaving a couple who were riding the motorcycle sprawled out on the ground after they were tossed from the two-wheeler.
They say the hit and run vehicle may have damage to the rear driver-side door. The couple was transported to Bronson Methodist.
The Kauffman suffered minor injuries but Potts is being treated for more serious issues.
