NEWTON TOWNSHIP) – Three suspects are at large following a disturbing home invasion in Calhoun County on Tuesday morning, during which the victims were robbed at gunpoint.
The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department says it happened at around 4:35 a.m. in the 7000 block of Division Drive west of Beadle Lake Road.
The three victims, an 84-year-old couple and a 13-year-old granddaughter, were awakened by the suspects, threatened with violence if they didn’t do as told, and tied up while the three suspects spent 45 minutes ransacking their home.
They say the suspects stole electronic and jewelry items, including the couple’s 65 year-old wedding riing. They then stole a vehicle from the garage, which was later abandoned and recovered about two miles from the home on Beadle Lake Road.
No injuries were reported. Investigators say the 13-year-old managed to free herself and flee to a neighbor’s home to call 911.

Two of the suspects were described as men.
One was five-feet-ten inches tall with a stocky build. He was wearing a baseball hat, a white hoodie pulled over his head and wavy green/brown camo pants.
A second suspect was described as a black male who was five-feet-ten inches tall with a skinny build. He was wearing a black hoodie pulled over his head and light-colored blue jeans
They aren’t sure of the gender of the third suspect and could not give a description of them. That area of Calhoun County has seen a rash of burglariies in recent weeks, but this was the boldest.
Like the others they suspect the theives got in through an unlocked garage door.
