KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – It may be hard for some to hear, and good news for others, but the first day of school is just a couple of weeks away.

District spokeswoman Susan Coney says in fact, there will be two this weekend. One is being held today at the Back to School Bash at the Family Health Center.
“They hold it at their facility 117 W Patterson St. from noon to six. Families who attend will get a backpack filled with school supplies,” says Coney.
She says there will be another Saturday in Bronson Park, the Beyond the Backpack event.
“That is from 11:00 until 2 and there are over 30 community vendors be there they’ll be free food resources and other supports for families.”
There will also be a number of back-to-school events held by individual schools between now and August 25th, which is the first day back.
It’s all free and designed to make sure kids get off to a good start this school year.
Dates and times for events can be viewed on the district’s website.
