OSHTEMO (WKZO AM/FM) — Kalamazoo County Sheriff deputies say another social media sale meet-up turned out to be an armed robbery.
The incident occurred in the parking lot of the Best Western Hotel on South 11th Street in Oshtemo Township just before 10 p.m. Thursday.
Authorities say the victims met the suspect to purchase a gaming system that was being sold on social media, but after they gave the money, the suspect displayed a handgun and left the parking lot.
The victims chased the robber to the Evergreen South Apartments and the suspect fired a shot at them, striking their car.
The suspect is described as a light skinned black male, 5’10”, 150-160 pounds, between age 18-20, with a thin build and short curly hair.
He was last seen wearing a black hoodie, grey sweatpants and black shoes.
The description of the suspect matches that of a perpetrator in an earlier sale ripoff.
