KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Four people were arrested Wednesday on a variety of gun charges in Kalamazoo after a joint operation by the Kalamazoo Valley Enforcement Team (KVET) and Crime Reduction Team (CRT,) with the assistance of the Kalamazoo Metro SWAT team.
A search warrant in the 4100 block of Lakesedge Drive in Kalamazoo following an investigation into the illegal possession of firearms by multiple suspects.
Police say when they arrived, a juvenile male suspect exited with a firearm concealed in his waistband. He was taken into custody without incident.
In all, KVET Investigators seized two firearms. One of the firearms was equipped with an extended magazine. The second firearm had an obliterated serial number.
The investigation resulted in the arrest of four suspects, including an 18-year-old male who was arrested and lodged at the Kalamazoo County Jail on the following charges: Weapons – Carrying Concealed and Possession of a Firearm with Obliterated Serial Number.
A 21-year-old female was arrested and lodged at the Kalamazoo County Jail on the following charges: Resisting and Obstructing Police and outstanding warrants.
A 16-year-old male was arrested and lodged at the Kalamazoo Juvenile Home on the following charges: Weapons – Carrying Concealed and Weapons – Possession by a Minor.
A 13-year-old male was arrested and lodged at the Kalamazoo Juvenile Home on the following charges: Possession of a Firearm with Obliterated Serial Number and Weapons –Possession by a Minor.
