ALAMO TOWNSHIP (WKZO AM/FM) — A reckless driver who was in critical condition after a rollover crash has now died.
29-year-old Derick Allen Smith of Union City was rushed to the hospital when he was ejected from his vehicle on U.S. 131 near D Avenue on Sunday.
Troopers say he had a blood alcohol count that was twice the legal limit.
His 9-year-old son who was riding in the front seat of the car remains in the hospital recovering from a severe concussion, but is expected to recover.
Witnesses say Smith was all swerving all over the road at high speeds, passing cars on the shoulders of the divided highway in Alamo Township when he crashed near the 46 mile marker.
