KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Kalamazoo County commissioners will be spending all of Tuesday afternoon in retreat to start work on their future spending plans.
They have a lot of new projects in mind, a lot of programs they must maintain and may have less money to work with, given events in Lansing and Washington DC.
County Administrator Kevin Catlin says it’s the kickoff for the 2026 budget process.
Complicating matters this year is the squabbling in Lansing over the state budget.
Catlin says they may not know what funding they are getting from the state until September.
The session will begin at noon and run through 5:30 p.m. in Room B at the Epic Center on Lake Street, and it’s open to the public.
