A quick response to a home at 93 James Street in Battle Creek Sunday morning prevented an electrical fire in the attic from spreading to the rest of the home.
Crews responded at 5 am and found smoking coming from the rear of the home. By their arrival, the occupants had already escaped the home.
They were able to quickly knock down the flames, covering property below the attic with tarps to minimize water damage.
They estimate the damage at about $15,000 to the structure and contents.
One Firefighter suffered a minor injury to right forearm and elbow checking for any extension.
BATTLE CREEK (WKZO AM/FM) — Another quick response to a call of smoke in the hallway of a three story apartment building at River Oaks Apartments at 296 Taft Court prevented a fire from spreading into much more devastating tragedy.
Fire Fighters found food left on the stove at about 3:30 PM on Friday the 13th was the source of the fire, which had spread into the ceiling, causing about $6,000 damage to the apartment and its contents.
