KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — A woman is in custody after breaking into two homes and stealing a vehicle near Kalamazoo’s Oakwood neighborhood.
Kalamazoo Public Safety officers were first called to a home invasion in the 2300 block of Crest Drive near Wood’s Lake just before 2:15 p.m. Tuesday but the suspect fled on foot.
The woman then broke into another residence in the 2400 block of Amherst Avenue, took car keys from the home, and stole the homeowner’s vehicle.
It’s now been learned that she broke into a third home in the Scotts area, allegedly so she could steal another vehicle.
Authorities say the suspect then continued a crime spree outside of the city before being arrested by Kalamazoo County Sheriff deputies and the Michigan State Police.
Detectives from the city and the county are working on a list of charges to request from the prosecutor’s office.
