PORTAGE (WKZO AM/FM) — A 66-year-old cyclist is in the hospital after he was struck by a vehicle in Portage.
The man was biking southbound on Lovers Lane just after 1:30 p.m. Tuesday when a truck heading northbound on East Centre Avenue turned left onto the street and hit the cyclist.
The victim fell onto the pavement and was knocked unconscious even though he was wearing a helmet.
He was rushed to the hospital where he is listed in stable condition in Bronson Methodist.
The 85-year-old driver assisted with the investigation and may be cited for the crash.
There were no other injuries, and authorities do not believe alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash, but they are still investigating.
