PORTER TOWNSHIP (WKZO AM/FM) — State Police say a burglar is in custody after he terrorized the homeowners who caught him robbing their place Saturday evening in Porter Township.
The couple came home at about 6 p.m. and found the suspect robbing the place.
He immediately began to threaten their lives, so they got back in the car and fled, getting on the phone to call 911.
Soon after, they spotted the burglar chasing them in their other vehicle, which the burglar stole from the garage.
They told the dispatcher what was happening and soon a Lawton police officer began to chase the robber, who crashed the vehicle in a field and ran away.
Trooper Andrew Jeffrey says after a K-9 pursuit that lasted several hours, they took the man into custody.
He still had items taken from the home in his possession.
He has been booked into the Van Buren County Jail on a home invasion charge and for numerous outstanding warrants.
