KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — Developers have broken ground on what used to be the parking lot behind the historic buildings that front east Michigan Avenue, for a new seven story building that will add a lot of the things that Downtown Kalamazoo needs.
Catalyst Development says there will be office space and residential housing. Among the tenants: S.W. Michigan First, Kalamazoo Community in Schools, and The Kalamazoo Promise.
The new building will actually increase the parking available by 120 spots by including three stories of parking in their design.
They hope to snip the ribbon on the new building in the summer of 2020.
