After all the drama of 2020 comes word of puppy scams at Christmastime. AARP’s Amy Nofziger says scammers are taking advantage of travel restrictions during the pandemic. She says they build webpages featuring cute puppies for sale and emphasize they only accept payment via Venmo, Cash App or Cell. These transaction apps are based on peer-to-peer technologies meaning once you’ve used them to send money it’s impossible to put a hold on or retract your move. The puppies for sale site says the adorable four legged gifts will be delivered to your closest airport but the scam leaves the victim without pet or the cash he paid for it.
