KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — Local gun control groups are asking the Kalamazoo County Board to take up a resolution supporting so-called “Red Flag” legislation in Lansing that was sponsored by local State Representative Jon Hoadley.
Several speakers from “Moms Demand Action” say the bills would allow local judges to temporarily take guns away from individuals in crisis, at the request of family members who are concerned about their welfare and the welfare of others.
Commissioner Tracy Hall asked that they take up the same resolution and that it should be put on a future agenda.
Hoadley’s legislation has been languishing in committee.
Other states have already approved it and bills have also been introduced in Congress.
