KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — A Kalamazoo hit and run driver is in custody thanks to the work of a Public Safety K-9.
Officers spotted a vehicle involved in a fleeing and eluding investigation around 10:40 p.m. Thursday in the 1400 block of Lay Boulevard in the Edison Neighborhood, but the suspect sped off again.
Shortly after, officers were called to a crash on East Cork Street and found the suspect’s vehicle, but the driver was missing.
They used K-9 Chase to track down the driver after a lengthy search.
The 30-year-old suspect is being held for hit and run, fleeing and eluding, resisting and obstructing an officer, multiple outstanding warrants, and driving on a suspended license.
Drug charges may also be filed.
