KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — A parole absconder wanted for a series of bank robberies in Southwest Michigan is now in custody after a chase in a different state.
42-year-old Daniel Richard Lee was on parole for a bank robbery back in 2009 and has a long history of larceny, drugs, and other crimes.
He was a person of interest in a robbery at the Comerica Bank on East Columbia Avenue in Battle Creek on July 27th and another holdup at the Chemical Bank on West Main Street in Oshtemo Township 4 days later.
A $5,000 reward was being offered for any information leading to Lee’s arrest, but he was eventually found by the help of multiple agencies.
Kalamazoo County Sheriff Richard Fuller says a lot of people were dedicated to this investigation including the FBI, the Michigan State Police Fugitive team, the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s department, Kalamazoo Public Safety officers, and others.
Police in Ohio attempted to pull Lee over for speeding, but he sped off again.
A chase occurred and he was later found and arrested.
No further details were released on the incident.
