OSHTEMO (WKZO AM/FM) — Oshtemo Township’s oldest surviving home is about to become one of its newest attractions.
The Farmstead on North Drake hosted a celebration Sunday to give residents a chance to see the restoration in progress.
The home was once the center of a complex of barns and carriage houses used on the working farm, which raised sheep, apples and hay, had a dairy barn and worked 500 acres of land.
Now it’s just the house and 26 acres that the township plans to dedicate as a park. They will be adding a new barn, a picnic shelter, walking trails and a parking lot.
