OSHTEMO TOWNSHIP (WKZO AM/FM) — Investigators are releasing more information on a home invasion and fire at a gated community in Oshtemo Township.
Kalamazoo County Sheriff deputies say the investigation is still ongoing, but they suspect it was arson that caused a townhouse to be destroyed around 7 a.m. Monday in the WestPort Village off of West H Avenue.
They’re now looking to question a balding white man between 35-50 years old that may be riding a red Mongoose mountain bicycle.
Witnesses say he is believed to be homeless and was staying in the area and may be involved in the incident.
Investigators say the suspect may have broke into the home on West Port Drive, stole items, and set the townhouse on fire before fleeing the scene.
Nobody was injured but crews are still assessing the cost of damages.
