KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — National health advocates and local democratic leaders, calling for an end to Republican’s war on healthcare, made a stop in Kalamazoo’s Bronson Park on their “Care Force One” on Thursday.
The “Protect Our Care” non-profit Democratic group is taking their bus tour across the nation to voice their concerns on the GOP’s health care plan they say is putting Medicaid, Medicare, and those with pre-existing health conditions at risk.
Laura Packard, a cancer survivor, said the Affordable Care Act saved her life and she would’ve been either “bankrupted or dead” if she still had her “junk insurance.”
Congressional Candidate Matt Longjohn, Senate Candidate Sean McCann, Commission Candidate Christine Morse, and Vice Mayor Erin Knott also took time to speak at the bus stop.
After stopping in Lansing and Kalamazoo, the “Care Force One” team now heads to South Bend in their tour of 48 events in 23 states.
