PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A Portage woman charged with physically abusing her twin sons, allegedly killing one of them, has agreed to plead guilty to second degree murder, rather than take her chances with a jury.
21-year-old Jennifer Mohler admitted to hitting the boys to keep them from crying when they were just 6 months old.
When Portage police responded to a medical call last winter at a home Woodlawn Drive, they found the boys showing bruising and other signs of abuse.
A week later, despite treatment, Logan Mohler died.
She was originally charged with open murder and two counts of first degree child abuse.
In exchange for her plea, the other charges will be dropped.
