PARCHMENT, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Some Parchment homeowners are wondering why their water bills are higher this quarter.
City Manager Nancy Stoddard says it has nothing to do with the dramatic switch over to water from the city of Kalamazoo following the discovery of PFAS in their own city wells.
She says the water and sewer committee looked over their rates and the commission voted back in May to increase demand charges before the crisis developed.
She adds that a fluke in the calendar also added an extra week to the length of the charging period.
