BATTLE CREEK, MI (WTVB/WNWN) – Christmas maybe three weeks away but there is no joy this holiday season when it comes to the daily COVID-19 reports from local and state health officials.
What had been feared, the recent surge in COVID-19 cases has led to more deaths and the Calhoun County death toll is increasing at a staggering rate.
The Calhoun County Public Health Department reported eight more deaths on Thursday which means 124 persons who tested positive for COVID-19 have died since the pandemic began last March. Nine COVID-19 related deaths have been reported in Calhoun County since Monday.
There were an additional 95 cases reported on Thursday which brought the total number of Calhoun County cases up to 5,644. The Public Health Department says there have been 680 Calhoun County cases since November 25.
